Inspired by "The Colour Out of Space," a short story in which a meteor crashes on a farm and has a unique, indescribable color that spreads though the countryside, infecting everything.
"The Call of Cthulhu" is among Lovecraft's most famous works, and reveals the existence of an age-old secret society that worships Cthulhu and a pantheon of other monstrous gods. Both the repeating text, and the symbols along the border spell out the the incantation chanted by the cult members, and translates to "In his house at R'lyeh, dead Cthulhu waits dreaming."
